The body as a site of transition and change
My ceramic sculpture is grounded in the layered legacies of family, industry, community, and the natural world. Most of my work begins with a representations of the human body, but these figurative pieces frequently incorporate natural elements and found objects— clay slips from local areas, metal pieces from former industrial sites, wax, and wasp nests In using “wild” clay and other materials gathered from meaningful locations, I investigate how individual and communal histories transform over time.
